Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer affects tens of thousands of Americans every year, and one case in four is fatal. As with most cancers, the key to beating the disease is catching it before it progresses to a later stage. With early detection from a routine oral cancer screening, there is a 90% success rate of cure after diagnosis. A trusted dentist is truly your only line of defense against oral cancer. Gain the peace of mind that comes with a regular oral cancer screening from Corbett Family Dentistry. With the help of the latest dental technology, even a diagnosis of oral cancer can be successfully treated through early detection.

Fillings

When the decay has been removed from the tooth, it is replaced with “filling” material. In the past, amalgam (silver) fillings were placed into the cleaned out portion of the tooth, but with advancements in dentistry, you can now have tooth-colored fillings instead of silver fillings. You may even elect to remove your old silver fillings in favor of new, undetectable tooth-colored fillings.

Root Canals

Damage to the nerve tissue inside of a tooth sometimes requires a root canal procedure. Despite the tales you may have heard regarding the procedure, most root canals are minimally uncomfortable, especially compared to the pain and discomfort you may be feeling before the procedure. Your dentist at Corbett Family Dentistry takes advantage of advances in technology and dental techniques that make root canal procedures more effective while taking less time.

Nightguards

Many people who notice chipped or cracked teeth but who don’t remember when the injury occurred, damaged their teeth while they were sleeping. Grinding or clenching your teeth during the night will cause your teeth to chip, crack, and even break. To keep you from seriously damaging your teeth, we recommend a dental appliance called a nightguard, which protects your teeth from grinding and clenching in your sleep. Our team takes great care in making sure you have a proper fit to prevent pain in your jaw joint. Do you suffer from headaches? If so, you may find that a side benefit of your nightguard is headache prevention. Many headaches start during the night, caused by the extreme pressure generated as you grind and clench your teeth. Ask our team about having a nightguard custom created especially for you.

Snore Appliances

If you or a loved one snores, you are likely aware that snoring often accompanies fitful sleep. Severe snoring may also be a sign of a more serious problem like sleep apnea. Sleep apnea occurs when an individual stops breathing for an extended period of time during sleep. Snoring happens when the soft palate relaxes to the point of cutting off the airway. Snore appliances are designed to comfortably hold the airway open during sleep. There are a wide variety of snore appliances available to you. Let us help you select the right one that fits your needs.

NTIs

While nightguards protect your teeth from grinding against one another and becoming damaged, an NTI is another solution. An NTI is a small device that only covers your anterior teeth. Similar to a nightguard, it is made from acrylics and hard plastics. In addition to preventing the grinding of teeth, the extra benefit of the NTI is that over time, the device teaches your muscles to relax. In this way, an NTI may be able to help you break the habit of grinding altogether. If you are suffering from frequent migraines, as well as from damaged teeth, an NTI may be the answer. Ask us today if an NTI is right for you.

Mouthguards

If your child plays sports or other similar activities, mouthguards are a great way to protect their teeth from potential injury. Mouthguards are easy to clean, come in many color combinations, and are custom made to fit comfortably in your child’s mouth.
